Ross Cobb is one of California's most acclaimed makers of Pinot Noir. His resume includes a who's-who of Pinot Noir legends in California, starting as a viticulturist and enologist at Williams-Selyem, moving to become the winemaker at Flowers Winery, and head winemaker at Hirsch Vineyards, Pachyderm Cellars, and Furthermore Wines.

After spending nearly a decade honing his winemaking skills, Ross approached his parents with the idea of founding Cobb Wines with a vision that would allow the family to guide every step of the process, from the farming of the vineyard to the crafting of a style that celebrated the Coastlands Vineyard, which David and Diane Cobb planted in 1989. The first vintage of Coastlands Vineyard Pinot Noir was a mere 130 cases. Cobb strives to produce wines that represent the places to which they were grown. His ethos is centered around three Estate Vineyards, a focus on cool climate sites, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling.  Today, Ross both farms Coastlands Vineyard and lives on property with his wife and daughter. His highly-allocated wines are sought after by collectors and regularly receive top scores from Burghound and other critics.
